Rochester, NH at a Glance
Rochester is often referred to as the Lilac City, because of the abundance of
lilac bushes that bloom each spring. Rolling hills veined with rivers and spotted
by lakes, shape the fabric of Rochester's landscape. The fourth largest city in
New Hampshire, Rochester's
convenient location provides easy access to proximate attractions and activities
such as skiing in the White
Mountains and visiting the beaches on the seacoast, in addition to the many
other Lakes Region activities. The Rochester
Fair is a prominent attraction in the area, and features everything from a
midway and circus to stunt driving shows and live music. For accommodation with
a historic feel, visitors can stay at the Governor's
Inn, a combination of two Georgian Colonial mansions that recall a golden
era of decadence and luxury. Camping also presents many options and is another
popular form of lodging during a visit to the Rochester area.
